SABI celebrates negative space; no excess, no clutter, no distraction. Monastic in quality, the focus is on finding inner peace.

SABI is understated, raw, and refined in its minimalism. A quality of serene beauty is expressed as a mood of spiritual solitude. The space is unpretentious yet elegant and timeless in its beauty. To experience SABI is to be enveloped by a tranquil condition.

SABI Sleep

Two king-size bedrooms accommodate up to four guests. 

The master suite is on the mezzanine level. A king-size bed sits atop a purpose-built platform rendered in textured micro-cement. Accompanying the master suite is a dedicated Japanese-inspired Onsen, with a repurposed wooden barrel featuring a bespoke liner handcrafted from salvaged copper. 

The second bedroom, located downstairs, also has a king-size platform bed.

Lounge

The heroic centrepiece of the lounge is the stone fireplace soaring six meters high into the vaulted ceiling. Flanked by acres of couch are two futon-inspired mattresses that rival the largest of daybeds.

Your space to drift into daytime slumber, or watch the flames dance into the night.

Reading Nook

There are many secret moments to discover at SABI and our reading nook is just one of them. Hidden behind Narnia-like doors, escape to the reading nook for a quiet moment to rest or immerse yourself in a considered collection of coffee table books on all things design and Japanese culture.

SABI Spa - Wetroom

The bathroom exudes a spa-like ambience, complete with an oversized rain shower, bespoke handmade brass tapware and floor-to-ceiling micro-cement.

Once used to collect foraged berries, a reclaimed wooden trough now sits proudly as a wall hung basin.  

SABI Spa - Japanese-inspired onsen

The primary suite has a dedicated furo (deep Japanese bathtub) made for SABI using a reclaimed oak barrel, charred in the traditional shou sugi ban method with handmade liner fabricated from salvaged copper.

Kitchen

A fully-equipped kitchen is complete with induction cooktop and oven. You will find custom ceramic dinnerware, mouth-blown glassware, cast-iron cookware, specialty Japanese knives, and ceremonial tea making and coffee brewing equipment. Tasmanian roasted coffee beans and Tasmanian teas are provided with compliments for our guest's enjoyment.

Please note there is no dishwasher or microwave. This is a conscious choice made to protect SABI’s designer pieces.

Dining

Adjacent to the kitchen, the dining space invites shared conversation over freshly prepared meals. 

The handmade table and stools were crafted from reclaimed Tasmanian Oak. Rich in texture and weathered by time, these pieces were crafted for SABI by local artisans.

Verandah

Just up the hill from the beach SABI sits in an elevated spot. Recline in comfort and enjoy our favourite vantage point to take in beach views of Binalong Bay and the surrounding bush. Enjoy the stillness with your morning brew or evening tipple accompanied by the sounds of the ocean.

Outdoor Shower

Perfect to wash off sand after returning from the beach or for the naturalist at heart you'll find our hot water shower discreetly out of view in a bush setting.
